Miki Harder is an illustrator, painter, and sculptor based out of Durango, CO. As she puts it, “I love birds…I love being outside and I think nature is funny. I draw cartoons, but my biology background keeps sneaking up on me and wanting each feather to be in place.” Her paintings live somewhere in the middle of realism and caricature.

During her time at Great Basin National Park, Miki led four interactive guided hikes for visitors; two sketching lessons and two birding walks. She was able to explore the park and surrounding region, studying the birds, the bristlecone pines, and the geology of the area. She spent time with members of the community and visitors to the park. Miki left a lasting impression, both through her work and her exuberant personality.
