National Park Service Centennial Celebration

With the amusement park atmosphere at Glen Echo Park, what better place to celebrate the centennial! Visitors will find a variety of activities for the entire family.

Begin the day at 10:00 a.m. with events like face painting, a photo booth, birds of prey demonstrations, an antique car show, and a scavenger hunt. Also, you can meet historical re-enactors portraying Theodore Roosevelt and the Buffalo Soldiers!

Starting at 11:00 a.m. two youth bands, Twenty20 and YAP! will be performing. Twenty20, is an energetic one-of-a-kind band that is taking DC by storm! YAP! is a hip-hop trio that have catchy, exciting songs with a conservation message.

The "Main Show," starting at 2:00 p.m. is a feature that will bring life to the exciting history of the National Park Service. Recreated historical NPS uniforms will be worn by models who will provide the context and history surrounding the iconic National Park Service uniform and flat hat! This main event will be accompanied by the US Army Band.
