Throughout history mankind has always been fascinated by the stars in our galaxy. Even during the American Civil War, soldiers and civilians on both sides looked to the heavens for inspiration, solace, and understanding. At 8 pm on August 10, Gettysburg National Military Park, with the Westminster Astronomical Society, invites the public to participate in a star-gazing program at Little Round Top, Auto Tour Stop 8.

This event is for stargazers of all interest levels. Limited numbers of telescopes and binoculars will be available for use during the program, though participants are encouraged to bring their own.

This free program, part of the History at Sunset series, will begin at 8 pm and conclude at 9 pm. Parking is available at Little Round Top, along Sedgwick Avenue. No registration is required. For the safety of participants at the end of the program, the public is advised to bring handheld flashlights for use in returning to your vehicles.
