On Sunday, April 10, Gateway National Recreation Area hosts the third annual Treasure Your Island community awareness day at Fort Wadsworth from 12:45 P.M. to 5 P.M. The event is free and open to the public.

Treasure Your Island showcases over two dozen Staten Island museums, parks, theater and culture. Music and theater performances will take place throughout the afternoon along with art displays, historical reenactments and tours of historic Battery Weed.

Performances will include the band Stout, Sundog Theatre, choruses and dance by public schools all over Staten Island (P.S. 3, 36, 65, 69, Wagner High), military living history, music by Sounds Uncertain, Red Storm Native American Dancers and more.

This event will take place rain or shine. To drive to Fort Wadsworth, take exit 15 from the Staten Island Expressway. Follow School Road to Bay Street and make a right. Fort Wadsworth is located at the end of Bay Street, which changes its name to New York Avenue once you enter the fort. Drive past the gatehouse and look for the signs.
