Summer Junior Ranger Programs at Sandy Hook

A program for ages 7-14 is offered several times during the summer and fall. Children learn the importance of protecting our National Parks and how park staff work together to protect both visitors and park resources.

For children ages 4-6, Junior Junior Ranger Programs are offered weekly in the summer. Each week a different topic is explored through a craft and a short trip.

Junior Ranger Program: Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge

The park rangers at Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge have many important jobs. They greet visitors, give tours, present programs, pick up litter, and protective wildlife.

Do you have what it takes to become a junior ranger?

In this fun and multi-sensory self-guided program, would-be rangers rove the Refuge, observing and learning about the park that they protect. Complete the activities to earn a Junior Ranger Badge.

Booklets are available on Saturdays and Sundays from 10am to 4pm. Pick up your copy outside of the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center, and call (718) 318-4340 to speak to a ranger for help answering questions, and to complete the program! Happy Trails!
