Anniston Greyhound Bus Depot

The Anniston Greyhound Bus Depot is a historic one story building. Improvements to the accessiblity of the building have been included in renovation plans, but have not yet been installed. We are sorry for the inconvenience and rangers and volunteers can help work around the limitations at the site.

The front door of the depot has a step up from the street. Visitors in wheelchairs can use the ramp at the metal side door in the alley with the bus mural. There is not an ADA door on the buidling. Knock on either set of doors and staff can come help you enter the building. We do not have a parking lot, but there are many nearby parking areas including an ADA parking spot next to a ramp next door.

Service animals are allowed in our buildings. Learn more about service animals in national parks on the national page.

The PBS Documentary Freedom Riders is shown on request and is captioned, but audio description is not available at this time.

Bus Burning Site

The Bus Burning Site is generally not accessible. Most of the site is uneven grassy fields including the National Park Service sign along the highway. The historical marker is located right next to the roadway off of the Old Birmingham Highway and is very visible from a vehicle. Improved accessibility is a part of plans in progress to rennovate the bus burning site.
