“Hoops, Lace, and Leather: Victorian Fashion on the Prairie”
Watrous, NM: Even on the edge of the frontier in the New Mexico Territory, no “proper” lady of the period would be found out of style. This was no easy task, as keeping up with Victorian fashion often meant wearing an outfit with at least seven layers! The outfits themselves made daily life difficult for many women who were forced into fashions which were not practical to most kinds of work, especially on a frontier fort. Join Ranger Megan Urban and step into the history of Victorian fashion on the open prairie.
