Proposed Fee Increases For Ft. Union National Monument and

In accordance with the Federal Lands Recreation Enhancement Act (REA), we are requesting comments from the public regarding proposed entrance fee increases for Fort Union National Monument and Pecos National Historical Park. Such fee increases are being considered nationwide as a way to bring similar-sized parks into consistent fee structures. 100% of the entrance fees are used by both Fort Union NM and Pecos NHP for projects which directly benefit the park visitor, such as deferred maintenance projects, infrastructure improvements and to directly address visitor needs.

Proposed fee increases under consideration are listed below. There is no change to the commercial vehicle fee, and children 15 and under are still free. Entrance fees at Pecos NHP have not been raised since 1996 and at Fort Union NM since 2001. The park 7 day per person pass and the annual pass may be used at both parks. If approved, these increases would take effect January 1, 2008.
