"La Llorona: The Wailing Woman."

Las Vegas, NM: The story of La Llorona is one that children have heard from their elders for hundreds of years. It is a sad tale, but it lives strong in the memories of the people with many swearing it to be true. The famous ghost of Spanish folklore is a widespread legend in North and South America and is known throughout the world for her chilling cries as she searches for her loved ones. In New Mexico, it is said she lived nearby or that an ancestor actually knew or saw her. La Llorona's cries are brought to life in the popular performance and songs of Rosalia de Aragon. The program will be held at the NMHU Student Union Building Theater, 800 National Avenue, Las Vegas, New Mexico, Thursday, October 16, at 7:00PM.

The Glimpses of the Past series are free in partnership with the Citizens Committee for Historic Preservation. For more information, contact Fort Union National Monument at (505) 425-8025, or visit www.nps.gov/foun
