Join Ms. Mary Ellen Gonzales to discover the stories and tales that bridge the cultural diversity of New Mexico. Ms. Gonzales will highlight the different experiences of New Mexico’s diverse population through the medium of storytelling. Her program, which is free, will take place on Thursday, May 16, 2019, at 7:00 pm at the CCHP/Santa Fe Trail Interpretive Center at 116 Bridge Street in Las Vegas, NM.
For centuries, New Mexico has been home to a variety of cultures and peoples. Many of these cultures left their marks on the land in which they lived, and their cultures have handed down these stories for generations. As more people emigrated to the West, their own stories and cultures came with them. Over time, many of these stories and histories blended together to create a new identity in the West.
The storytelling program is presented in partnership with the Las Vegas Citizens Committee for Historic Preservation and the New Mexico Humanities Council.
