Contact: Lorenzo Vigil, 505-425-8025 Watrous, NM: Fort Union National Monument announces its annual Junior Ranger Camp beginning on Wednesday, June 7th through Friday, June 9th, with registration starting at 9:30 a.m. and camp ending at 4:00 p.m. The camps are for kids ages 7-12 with the June 7th camp for 7-8 year olds, the June 8th camp for 9-10 year olds and the June 9th camp for 11-12 year olds. The camps will allow area youth to discover the culture of 19th century life in the American Southwest, and the lasting impacts of Fort Union on land and the people who called it home. Kids will discover this history with hands-on games, activities, and ranger-led programs. ALL CAMPS ARE FREE! Enrollment begins May 1st. To enroll your child, please call the park at 505-425-8025. There is a maximum of 20 children per camp, so please register as soon as possible. Parents are encouraged to stay and participate with their children.To visit the monument, take Exit 366 off I-25 at Watrous, NM, onto State Hwy. 161, 8 miles.
