Fort Union National Monument Announces Summer Junior Ranger Camps On the dates of Thursday, June 9 and Friday, June 10, 2011 Fort Union National Monument will be conducting two all-day Junior Ranger Camps beginning at 10:00AM and ending at 4:00PM. Geared for children ages 7-12, the camps will introduce youngsters to the diverse natural and cultural resources of Fort Union through a series of hands-on games, activities, and ranger led programs. The June 9 Junior Ranger Camp is geared for children ages 7-9 and the June 10 camp is geared for children ages 10-12. ALL CAMPS ARE FREE!!!! Enrollment Begins MAY 1st, 2011. There is a maximum of 30 children per camp, so please hurry to register your child. Please call the registration phone number at 505-425-8025 between the hours of 8am to 6pm daily. Parents are encouraged to participate. Fort Union (1851-1891) was the largest frontier military post and supply center of the southwest. The National Park Service preserves and tells the story of Fort Union and the Santa Fe Trail. Fort Union National Monument is located near Watrous, exit 366 off I-25, 8 miles on NM-161.
