Watrous, NM: Fort Union National Monument announces its annual Fort Union Days Event to be held on June 17 and 18, 2017. The event weekend is FREE to the public and runs from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm on Saturday, and 8:00 am to 4:30 pm on Sunday. The event will include guest speakers emphasizing the African American experience in the West.

This year, programs and activities will include a Victorian era fashion show on Saturday, a 19th-century military encampment, musket firing demonstrations, artillery firing demonstrations and programs about the Navajo Indians and the Buffalo Soldiers. 

There will also be a children’s tent area featuring hands-on activities for kids. Food will be available on site courtesy of the Dawg House of Las Vegas, NM.

To visit the monument, take Exit 366 off I-25 at Watrous, NM, onto State Hwy. 161, 8 miles.
