Fort Union National Monument, announces the annual "Candlelight Tours" on Saturday, August 11, 2012. During this free evening event, visitors guided through the fort will discover the intimate stories of those who fought and served at Fort Union during the Civil war, as portrayed by costumed interpreters in historic vignettes.

Visitors will also learn of the pivotal role that Fort Union played in the defense and protection of the Southwest during this tumultuous period of American history. Each tour will last 45 minutes. Tour times are: 7:45p.m., 8:15p.m., 8:40p.m., 9:00p.m., 9:20p.m., 9:40p.m., and 10:00p.m.  Photography is allowed only during the 7:45p.m.tour. Tours are limited to 15 visitors per tour time.  Reservations are required. To reserve a spot on a tour, please contact the Monument. Visitors are encouraged to wear comfortable walking shoes and bring a flashlight and light jacket.
