In recognition of African American Month, Fort Davis National Historical Park Ranger, Timothy McElwain will present the history of the Buffalo Soldiers on Thursday February. 18th, 7pm at Citizens Committee for Historic Preservation at 116 Bridge Street, Las Vegas.  The focus of McElwain’s program, entitled “Trash Can Cavalry: History and Memory,” is to mend the broken truth of history. Examples of myths that have been developed over time will be discussed, while doing so, highlighting the reality of history. The monthly “Glimpses of the Past” programs are free of charge, in cooperation with Citizens Committee for Historic Preservation. For more information, contact Fort Union National Monument at (505) 425-8025, or visit www.nps.gov/foun.
