Ambrose Burnside

General Ambrose Burnside led the Union army to victory at the Battle of Roanoke Island, starting the North Carolina campaign. While his North Carolina Campaign started well, Burnside had a tumultuous tenure during the Civil War and eventually had a falling out and resigned his position near the end of the war.
