September 11 Observance General Information

 

Media Pass

Event passes for media issued by the National Park Service are required to obtain access to any of the designated media areas, including parking and coverage areas for the ceremonies.

 

September 11 Observance

The 25th Annual September 11 Observance will take place on Friday, September 11, 2026, at the Memorial Plaza and is free and open to the public. Events will be held rain or shine. In the event of severe weather, elements of the program are subject to change.

Morning Observance  
8:30- 10:30 a.m. at the Wall of Names.  

The public is invited to join the morning observance to reflect on the attack in New York City, Arlington and Shanksville. The observance includes the reading of the names of the Flight 93 passengers and crew members. The Bells of Remembrance will ring in their honor. 

Afternoon Ceremony 
1:00 to 2:30 p.m. at the Wall of Names.

The ceremony is open to the public and includes remarks, keynote speakers, music and concludes with a public wreath laying ceremony at the Wall of Names. 

A public wreath laying will take place at the Wall of Names immediately following the afternoon ceremony. The Wall of Names will open late afternoon.

Visitors are encouraged to arrive early and allow ample time to park and walk to the event site. All visitors on the morning of September 11 will park in designated lots and shuttle to and from the event. Accessible buses are available to accommodate wheelchairs.  

The Visitor Center is open until 7:00 p.m. on September 11 and 12.
