Contact: Kathy Krause, 631-687-4772 Contact: Elizabeth Rogers, 631-687-4772 LONG ISLAND, New York –Fire Island National Seashore joins parks, programs and partners across the country to encourage everyone to find their park and share their stories online at FindYourPark.com. Launched Monday by the National Park Service and the National Park Foundation, Find Your Park is a public awareness and education campaign celebrating the milestone centennial anniversary of the National Park Service in 2016 and setting the stage for its second century of service. Find Your Park invites the public to see that a national park can be more than a place -- it can be a feeling, a state of mind, or a sense of American pride. Beyond vast landscapes, the campaign highlights historical, urban, and cultural parks, as well as the National Park Service programs that protect, preserve and share nature, culture, and history in communities nationwide. "Find Your Park" is also the theme for this year's National Park Week, April 18 –26. To celebrate National Park Week and Junior Ranger Day Fire Island National Seashore will be hosting a variety of events and programs including an "Evening Tower Tour" at the Fire Island Lighthouse, a guided "History Hike" exploring the historically-rich Lighthouse Tract, and "Wrack Line Discovery," a beach stroll with a park ranger in search of natural treasures washed in by the tides. On Saturday, April 25 children ages 7 to 12 and their caregivers are invited to participate in a day of fun-filled learning and seaside discovery during the Seashore's annual Junior Ranger Day event taking place at the Fire Island Lighthouse. "Fire Island is a great place to explore any time of year and its closer than you think," said Fire Island National Seashore Superintendent Chris Soller. "Come find your park in the sands and stories of Fire Island National Seashore."
