Enjoy this Fourth of July weekend safely with family and friends. There are plenty of opportunities to enhance your holiday weekend experience at Fire Island National Seashore as summer programs start this week. Guided tours and other programs will be offered at Wilderness, Watch Hill and Sailors Haven visitor centers, and a special historic decoy carving demonstration will be held at the William Floyd Estate.

However, the park is holding off on its  celebration of the signing of the Declaration of Independence until August 2. That was the date in 1776 that William Floyd and three other New York delegates signed this historic document.

Join the ranger at the William Floyd Estate in Mastic Beach on Sunday, August 2, at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. or 3 p.m. for a half-hour chat about the life and accomplishments of William Floyd.

The William Floyd Estate is open for the season, Friday through Sunday and on holidays. For more information, contact the William Floyd Estate at 631-399-2030.
