Norris Geyser Basin

The investigators decided it was unsafe to continue. They dumped 5,000 pounds of cement slurry into the hole and sealed it with a cap of cement. Today, the cement cap thumps with the great forces taking place in its depths and, occasionally, there is geyser activity from a small hole in the top of the cap.
