Ticketing Information
Although the National Park Service does not charge an entrance fee, there is a fee for ferry transportation to the island. It is required that there is one adult chaperone (age 21 or older) for every 10 students in your group. Chaperones are to remain with their group at ALL TIMES.
Admission Ticket Types
There are two types of tickets offered for school groups: General Admission and Pedestal.
- General Admission: You can buy tickets inside Castle Clinton National Monument (The Battery, NYC) or at Liberty State Park in Jersey City, NJ. However, you will likely not get Pedestal Access to the monument if you are also planning on visiting the Statue of Liberty. A student discount will also not be available. We highly recommend you buy reserve tickets online in advance.
- Pedestal: Pedestal tickets require you to arrive at the security screening facility at an appointed date and time. The time printed on your reserve tickets is the approximate time you will be joining the line at the security screening facility; not the ferry departure time. Also, you cannot arrive more than 30 minutes before your reserved ticket time. If you want access to the pedestal at the Statue of Liberty, request pedestal tickets when completing the reservation form.
Payment
- To verify legitimate school group status and qualify for a group discounted rate, you must fax or e-mail a letter on school letterhead detailing the date and time of the trip and the number of students and adults visiting.
- The discounted rate is only available for purchase through the Statue City Cruises sales department. It is only available for purchase online by completing the request form.
- The discounted school rate does not apply to any student beyond senior year of high school or to college students.
