Celebrate in Santa Fe

Buckman Road Trail Segment Opening

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the National Trails System Act and in commemoration of National Trails Day, the Buckman Road trail segment will officially open on June 2, 2018. This 15-mile stretch of trail connects the Santa Fe River Greenway with the El Camino Real de Tierra Adentro National Historic Trail and will offer visitors an unbroken path for hiking, biking, and other activities along the trail. Spring & Fiber Fest

El Rancho de las Golondrinas and the National Park Service celebrate the 50th anniversary of the National Trails System Act with the Spring & Fiber Fest on June 2nd and 3rd, 2018. Experience sheep shearing, wool dying, spinning, weaving, blacksmithing, traditional foods, and children’s activities. Celebrate in Albuquerque

National Public Lands Day

The National Park Service joins the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service at Valle de Oro National Wildlife Refuge in Albuquerque, New Mexico to celebrate National Public Lands Day on September 29, 2018. This former dairy farm has been restored to its natural state and is the first urban wildlife refuge in the Southwest. The refuge, which includes a section of the El Camino Real de Tierra Adentro National Historic Trail, is a great place to see a variety of birds. Fiesta of Cultures

The Coronado Historic Site in Bernalillo and the National Park Service celebrate the 50th anniversary of the National Trails System Act with the Fiesta of Cultures on October 20, 2018. Events include historic re-enactors, Jemez dances, crafts, and opportunities to hike the trail and visit the museum, ruins, and painted kiva. El Camino Real Trade Fair

The National Trails Intermountain Region office of the National Park Service and the Gutierrez-Hubbell House in Albuquerque will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the National Trails System Act at the Camino Real Trade Fair on October 21, 2018. Enjoy musical performances, workshops on the history of the region, textile displays, historic re-enactors, arts and crafts sales, weaving demonstrations, baking, blacksmithing, and activities for children. Celebrate in El Paso

The Camino Real Trail Association will hold its annual meeting on September 29, 2018 in El Paso, Texas. Participate in presentations about Camino Real history, visit trail monument locations, and attend speech by the association president, Troy Ainsworth, about the 50th anniversary of the National Trails System Act.
