Cultural Resource Preservation & Management

Cultural resources at the Dry Tortugas National Park represent an enduring legacy of maritime history. Protecting and preserving these resources are primary to the significance of the park. Donations to the Cultural Resources program allow the park to achieve these goals by performing a number of activities, including:


· Mapping and researching the numerous shipwrecks in the park
· Preservation work on Fort Jefferson and the Garden Key and Loggerhead Lighthouses
· Conservation treatments for historic cannon
· Improving the appearance of the historic landscape of Garden Key
· Public archeology programs inside of Fort Jefferson
