Conveniently located just off U.S. Highway 25E, just south of Middlesboro, KY, the Visitor Center is the perfect place to kick off your adventure. Step inside to explore exhibits beneath towering indoor “trees,” discover historical treasures, and browse the gift shop run by America’s National Parks.

Head upstairs to enjoy an inspiring short film about the park, then step outside to explore Civil War-era cannons, a peaceful garden, and picnic spots.

Stretch your legs on the paved, accessible Fitness Trail and take in the fresh mountain air. Whether you’re here for a quick stop or a full day, the Visitor Center has everything you need, maps, park info, snacks, and more. Your journey starts here!

Explore the history, wildlife, habitat, geology, and other wonders of Cumberland Gap National Historical Park in our gift shop! The gift shop is operated by America's National Parks, an official non-profit partner dedicated to supporting the educational mission of the National Park Service. Located inside the main visitor center, the gift shop offers a wide range of books, media, educational games, and other items for sale. You can also shop online. Accessibility

The main Visitor Center is designed to be welcoming and accessible. Visitors using wheelchairs will find smooth access throughout the building, including restrooms. You can take the stairs or use the elevator to reach the second floor. Designated accessible parking spaces are located close to the entrance for easy access. Service animals are welcome anywhere visitors are allowed. Looking to explore a bit outside? A paved, accessible portion of the Fitness Trail starts right from the Visitor Center parking area, perfect for a relaxing stroll or roll.
