Please help us make America's Best Idea even better. Join us for a national day of service and celebration in you 391 national parks.

National Public Lands Day is a nationwide effort to improve America's public lands. Cumberland Gap National Historical Park is celebrating this important day with a volunteer work day on the trails and a special program at the park visitor center focusing on the national park system and the new Ken Burns series to be shown on PBS.

The National Parks: America's Best Idea will premiere this fall and will feature incredible stories, vivid photos, and amazing video footage of our national parks.

Hikers enjoy the trails at Cumberland Gap National Historical Park

Join park volunteers on a trail adventure! Volunteers will be working on park trails - providing basic maintenance and trail clean up. Work will be conducted while visiting spectacular areas in the park. Transportation will be provided to the trailheads.

America's Best Idea - a Celebration of our National Park System
7:00 pm at the park visitor center

This 1 hour long program will feature photos, stories, and video footage which will focus on our national parks and highlight the upcoming Ken Burns series The National Parks: America's Best Idea.
