Edit Field Mappings

Use this dialog to map the source fields of the element to the target fields of the Generic Render Handler.

You access this dialog in either of the following ways:

Adding or editing a render handler and selecting a Generic Render Handler module. Clicking Save in the Add/Edit Render Handler dialog displays the Edit Field Mapping dialog.
Clicking the Edit Field Mapping menu option from the edit icon dropdown for an element's Manage Layouts dialog, when that layout is a Generic Render Handler.

The Edit Field Mappings dialog displays as shown below.

This dialog displays the following columns. One row exists for each field that the Generic Render Handler accepts.

Field Name - The name of the field as defined by the Generic Render handler.
Description - A description of the field as defined by the Generic Render handler.
Mapping - A selection list of fields from the current element, plus additional fields (Custom Expression and Custom Replacement)

For each generic field on the left, pick the mapping field you want to render from the current element. CommonSpot displays only those fields that can be mapped, along with additional options

Custom Expression - You can provide a valid ColdFusion expression that can be evaluated to a single value. Example:ListAppend( firstname, lastname, ‘ ‘ )
Custom Replacement - You can provide a string with field names in curly brackets which will be replaced. Example: {firstname} {lastname}
ResolvedURL - If the element is a custom element, a URL to the element record (either the parent page for a local custom element, or the viewing page for a global custom element) is provided, as either a server relative URL or fully qualified URL.
ResolvedURL.ServerRelative
ResolvedURL.Absolute

Click Save to keep your changes or Cancel to exit without saving.
