Welcome to the 250 Adventure Ranger Program!

Grab your family and friends and embark on an exciting quest through Virginia’s rich American Revolution history. In honor of this once‑in‑a‑generation commemoration, the park invites visitors of all ages to participate in the 250 Adventure Ranger Program — a hands‑on, interactive experience that explores iconic historic locations and encourages stewardship and civic awareness.

Inspired by the popular Junior Ranger program, this adventure leads families through museums, landmarks, and events across the region. Along the way, adventurers collect stamps, complete fun challenges, and deepen their connection to the places and stories that shaped American independence.

Complete your book and you will be eligible to receive a special commemorative medallion (while supplies last).

YOUR MISSION Explore historic sites, hidden gems, and cultural landmarks that played key roles in America’s story of independence. With each stop, you’ll uncover inspiring stories and forge lasting memories.

Here's How It Works

• Pick Up Your Book: Visit the Yorktown Battlefield Visitor Center- 1000 Colonial Parkway, Yorktown, VA to pick up your book- this is the only location where they are available. Because supplies are limited, we ask that each family or friend group take only one booklet.
• Plan Your Destination: Assemble your team and choose from any of the featured locations in the book. There’s a map and checklist in front of the book to help you find each location and guide your journey. Helpful hint: some locations offer more than one activity.
• Complete the Activity: Each stop includes fun, engaging, and thought-provoking tasks—perfect for explorers of all ages! Work together to answer each question, and don’t forget to record your responses in the book.
• Earn a Stamp: After completing an activity, use the map on pages 4-5 to find where staff will check your answers and stamp your book. Claim your stamp and set off to the next destination!
• Secure 32 Stamps: Once you’ve collected 32 stamps (including 2 of the 3 Signature Event Stamps), return your completed book to the Yorktown Battlefield Visitor Center. You’ll be eligible to receive an exclusive, limited-edition 250 Adventure Ranger Medallion (one per family, while supplies last)—a symbol of your curiosity, courage, and dedication.

THE FINE PRINT:To qualify for the medallion, ALL questions must be completed. A stamp alone does not count as a finished activity.

FAQs

How many people can participate?
There is no limit to the number of family members or friends who can join you. However, each group may receive only one book due to limited supply.

Where do I pick up my book?
The books are only available at the Yorktown Battlefield Visitor Center – 1000 Colonial National Historical Parkway, Yorktown, VA 23690.

Is there a cost?
The book is FREE (one per family/group). Some sites may require admission, but most questions can be answered without entering a paid area. If you choose to explore further, standard admission fees apply.

How long do I have to complete the book?
There is no set deadline. However, the commemorative medallions are limited- once they’re gone, they’re gone!

How long will it take to complete the book?
Because the booklet includes multiple sites and activities spread across the region, most participants will need multiple days to complete all tasks.

What is the reward?
Participants who complete all required activities are eligible to receive a limited‑edition commemorative medallion.

Where do I go once my book is complete?
Return your completed book to the Yorktown Battlefield Visitor Center to receive your reward (while supplies last).
