The Chesapeake Bay Office of the National Park Service administers two national initiatives to connect people with the special places and stories of the Chesapeake Bay. Through the Chesapeake Bay Gateways and Watertrails Network and the Captain John Smith Chesapeake National Historic Trail, the National Park Service works through a variety of partnerships to preserve these special places and stories and to foster stewardship of the Chesapeake. The National Park Service is also a federal partner in the watershed-wide Chesapeake Bay Program.
