Red Chokeberry (Aronia arbutifolia) is a common shrub that grows 6-12 feet high. In spring, the plant grows clusters of white, five-petaled flowers. In summer, dark green, glossy leavesappear and consistently turn a rich, orange-red in fall. Also appearing in fall are the bright red, pear-shaped, berries. The underside of the leaves are densely covered in hairs.
