Coreopsis (Coreopsis grandiflora) is a yellow daisy-like flower. It is native to the Southeast and can grow in dry conditions, chalky soil, and shallow soils.Because it is so hardy, coreopsis is a good candidate for urban gardens. They bloom from June to September with flowers 2-3 inches in diameter. Coreopsis, which means "bug" in Greek, is sometimes known as tickseed because the small, flat seeds bear a remarkable resemblance to the insect. |
