In 2012, Chattahoochee Parks Conservancy (CPC) was established as the official friends group for the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area (CRNRA) with a mission to build a community of support for the national park and promote stewardship of its cultural and natural resources.

In May 2020, Chattahoochee Parks Conservancy changed their name to Chattahoochee National Park Conservancy (CNPC). The name has changed, but their mission is the same. As the official Friends group for the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area (CRNRA), having "National Park" in their name emphasizes that the park we all love is part of our national park system and needs our support. CNPC continues to work with the National Park Service to enrich visitor experiences in the CRNRA and protect the park's natural and cultural resources.
