Introduction to EKIPSaturday, September 7, 2019, 9 am - 12:30 pmPark rangers from Guadalupe Mountains National Park and Chamizal National Memorial invite you to explore exciting ways to connect your students to their national parks. Learn about the Every Kid in a Park (EKIP) program and how your students can participate. The EKIP program is a federal public lands partnership created to inspire 4th graders and their families to recreate, explore cultures, discover connections to nature, and spark a lifelong passion for America's great outdoors. During the workshop, you will learn how to orient your students to how they may obtain and use their EKIP pass, as well as how to find educational materials and contacts for their families to plan trips. As a participant in the workshop, you will have the opportunity to secure EKIP passes for your entire class or grade level by booking a ranger presentation in your classroom and access field trip opportunities with transportation funds from the National Park Foundation. Tap into the educational value of national parks for your students through programs and activities such as river model demonstrations, art exhibit guided tours, literature and resource material review, and a youth art poster contest. Register for the workshop by emailing or calling J.R. Lujan at 915-532-7273 ext.128. Please provide the following information:
There is no cost to attend the workshop. A completion certificate with professional development hours will be provided. Participants will meet at the Chamizal National Memorial Cultural Center. |
