King's Palace Photo Tour

The King's Palace Photo Tour, a 1.5-hour ranger-guided tour through four highly decorated chambers will take you into the deepest portion of the cavern open to the public, 830 feet beneath the desert surface. You will enjoy photographing a variety of cave formations including helictites, draperies, columns and soda straws.

Normally, tripods aren't permitted in this area, but this tour allows the opportunity to use them and walk in the footsteps of photographers such as Ray V. Davis and Ansel Adams. Photographers should know how to use their own cameras.

Although not as difficult as the Natural Entrance route, this 1-mile tour does require additional descending, and at the end, walking up a very steep hill.

Reservations are required for the King's Palace Photo Tour. To make reservations call 877-444-6777 or visit Recreation.gov.
