Carlsbad Caverns National Park Superintendent John Benjamin announced today that the National Park Service (NPS) has issued a prospectus for a concession contract that provides for merchandise, food and beverage, and kennel services in the park. The concession contract will be valid for ten years. Concession services in the park are available year-round except for December 25. The surface concession business operations are within the NPS visitor center. The park will be renovating the entire visitor center, including the concession-operated areas, beginning in early 2007. The project is expected to take one year to complete with the successful offeror starting their operations in the newly renovated facility. Surface operations include food and beverage service, a retail operation and a kennel. Limited merchandise, and food and beverage services are available in the underground portion of the operation.
