HARKERS ISLAND, NC – In an effort to ensure the safety and protection of the public, park staff, and facilities, Cape Lookout National Seashore will close today at 5:00 P.M., based on the impending threat of Hurricane Isaias.
The park will monitor the storm as it makes its way north in the coming days. Once the storm passes the area, park officials will assess for any damages and make sure the park is safe for reopening to the public.
Reservations at Great Island Cabin Camp are cancelled through Friday, August 7. Visitors with cabin reservations should monitor weather conditions. Due to the nature of this weather event, all reservations (through Friday, August 7) that have been cancelled will be issued a full refund at www.recreation.gov, or call (877) 444-6777.
The National Park Service staff will be monitoring ongoing developments with Hurricane Dorian and will post updates as needed on the park website and via Facebook and Twitter. For more storm information regarding the area: weather.gov/mhx/tropical
