Harkers Island, NC – Tropical Storm Isaias is forecast to be a potential threat to Cape Lookout National Seashore as current projections, though still uncertain, show the storm passing across or very near to the coast of Eastern North Carolina. The forecasts issued later this afternoon and tonight should be more concrete.
Tropical Storm marine impacts could begin as early as Friday and Saturday. Rip currents, elevated tidal cycles, rough surf, elevated seas, coastal erosion could all be present from Miami to Cape Hatteras August 1 - 4.
The National Park Service staff will be monitoring ongoing developments with Tropical Storm Isaias and will post updates or closures as needed on the park website at go.nps.gov/stormwatch, and via Facebook and Twitter at twitter.com/CapeLookoutNPS.
