HARKERS ISLAND, NC – Kick off the New Year with a visit to your favorite beach. Cape Lookout National Seashore and their authorized passenger ferry concessioner, Island Express Ferry Service, LLC are pleased to welcome the public to the first lighthouse climb of the year on Monday, January 1, 2018.
Come experience the view from the gallery of the iconic Cape Lookout Lighthouse while hearing nostalgic stories of the Lighthouse Keepers, the lighthouse, and the natural barrier island ecosystem during winter.
The cost of the program is $25 (price includes ferry fee) and is non-refundable (weather dependent). The program begins on Harkers Island at 10:15 a.m. under the ferry dock canopy. Please arrive a few minutes early to check your party in with park rangers before the program starts. All participants will travel together on a single ferry that departs shortly after the program begins (about 10:30 a.m.). The ferry will return to Harkers Island at approximately 1:00 p.m.
Space is limited and reservations are required. This program will be able to accommodate a maximum of 40 total participants. Children joining the climb must be at least 44-inches tall and must climb the steps on their own. Children 12 years of age and younger must be accompanied by an adult (16 or older).
