HARKERS ISLAND, NC–Take the oath, wear the hat, earn the badge, and join the National Park Service "family." Become a National Park Junior Ranger with Cape Lookout National Seashore on National Park Junior Ranger Day! A family, fun-oriented event with activities for everyone to enjoy. Cape Lookout National Seashore invites you and your family Saturday, April 18, from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. in Grayden Paul Park across from Cape Lookout National Seashore's Beaufort Visitor Information Center (701 Front Street, Beaufort, NC 28516). Come meet the Ranger and participate in outdoor fun and games while learning the importance of the cultural and natural resources in Cape Lookout National Seashore. Kids who complete a Junior Ranger Activity booklet will earn a badge and certificate and be sworn in as a Junior Ranger. By taking the oath, each Junior Ranger will help guarantee the future of their National Parks. The Junior Ranger program is free, educational, and is encouraged in almost all parks across the nation. It teaches young visitors to "explore, learn, and protect," which is the Junior Ranger motto. With the centennial anniversary of the National Park Service just around the corner in 2016, Cape Lookout National Seashore wants to connect and create with the next generation of park visitors and supporters. Come play outside, become a Junior Ranger, and "Find your Park" in Cape Lookout National Seashore. |
