Great Island and Long Point Cabins Open for 2014

HARKERS ISLAND, NC – Superintendent Pat Kenney announced that the Great Island and Long Point Cabins within Cape Lookout National Seashore opened on March 16, 2014.Cabin office hours will be 7:30 a.m. to 4:45 p.m., 7 days per week.

The rustic cabins at Long Point and Great Island offer beachfront views of the pristine, undeveloped barrier islands of Cape Lookout National Seashore. The cabin camps can only be reached by boat, and provide a great way to visit the seashore.

Reservations for the cabins are available through www.recreation.gov or by calling [phone], 10 a.m. – Midnight EST.

Beginning 2014, the offices at each area are now North Carolina official weigh stations for the North Carolina Saltwater Fishing Tournament.The North Carolina Saltwater Fishing Tournament commonly referred to the "Citation Program," runs each calendar year from January 1 to December 31.The program recognizes anglers for their outstanding recreational catches of fish most commonly caught in North Carolina.Anglers can now get their fish weighed and a citation filled out at our offices.
