HARKERS ISLAND, NC - Cape Lookout National Seashore is proud to announce its new Facebook page. This social media site is part of a continued search for innovative ways to perform outreach to the public and develop new audiences. Facebook is a premier social networking tool on the web. It reportedly has over 500 million users, with more than 50% of users logging in at least once a day. The Cape Lookout Facebook page will serve a variety of needs. First and foremost, it will be used to announce up to the minute news about what is taking place in the park. Examples of this could include shorebird and sea turtle nesting success, horse herd reports, road closures, visitor center hours, interpretive programming, and special events. Second, it allows the park to interact with visitors and friends.Visitors can post their own photos or videos taken in the park and post feedback and constructive commentary on park updates. The park hopes that visitors, community members, and any others who have a compelling interest in Cape Lookout will take the time to help us make this Facebook page a unique asset in reaching out to our visitors.
