HARKERS ISLAND, NC -- Come help Cape Lookout National Seashore celebrate National Junior Ranger Day and National Park Week on Saturday, April 21, 2012, from 12:00 noon until 4:00 p.m. All of the activities will take place at the Harkers Island Visitor Center of Cape Lookout National Seashore. There are over 300 National park sites that offer Junior Ranger programs. The Junior Ranger Program began in the 1960s and was developed to encourage kids and their parents to "Explore, Learn About and Protect" their national parks. Thousands of Park Stewards have been certified as Junior Rangers and with the new participants thousands more will be certified on National Junior Ranger Day. Scheduled activities are:
