Cape Lookout National Seashore will be offering Maritime Forest Guided Tours every Saturday for the remainder of the summer.The tour is a ranger guided program that takes visitors through the Soundside and Willow Pond Trails at the Harkers Island Visitor Center and the Core Sound Waterfowl Museum and Heritage Center.

This tour is a  fun activity for the whole family.The program provides a glimpse into the survival, history, and conservation of the local plants and animals of the Maritime Forest.

Join a ranger for an hour long walk to better understand what makes the Maritime Forest so special.  Come learn how the native plants and animals survive with the constant threat of the forces of nature and enjoy a pleasant hike with great views and a chance to see shore birds, crabs, and other island life.  Comfortable walking shoes that can get wet and muddy are a must.Bring water, bug repellent, sunscreen, and a camera.There is no fee for this program. 

Meet at Harkers Island Visitor Center Saturdays at 10:30 AM, 12:30 PM, and 2:30 PM.  Program lasts approximately one hour.
