Many federal offices will be closed on Tuesday following President George W. Bush’s Executive Order for a National Day of Mourning.
Cape Lookout National Seashore’s VisitorCenter will be closed on Tuesday, January 2, 2007, as a gesture of respect for Gerald R. Ford. This has been designated a National Day of Mourning for the 38th President of the United States by President George W. Bush.
Superintendent Bob Vogel comments, “It is particularly fitting that the park mark the President’s passing, because Gerald Ford is the only American President to have served as a park ranger in the National Park Service. He was a seasonal park ranger at YellowstoneNational Park in the summer of 1936. Ford later recalled that time as ‘one of the greatest summers of my life.’” |
