News Release Date: January 11, 2006 The NPS is proposing to update the policies that guide the management of the national park system. The policies are being updated to improve their clarity and to keep pace with changes in laws, regulations, socio-economic factors, and technology. The revised policies will also improve understanding among NPS managers and the public as to how decisions are made to protect park resources and to provide opportunities for public enjoyment of the parks. The time and location of the meeting: „X January 18, 2006 ¡V 7:00 p.m. ¡V 9:00 p.m. Core Sound Waterfowl Museum, 1205 Island Road, Harkers Island, NC. Copies of the Draft Management Policies are available at the NPS Planning Environment and Public Comment (PEPC) website: https://parkplanning.nps.gov/document.cfm?projectId=13746&documentID=12825 We recommend that you review the ¡§Annotated Comparison Between 2001 and Current Draft¡¨ document that is located at the bottom of the screen. Individuals are encouraged to submit comments on the Planning, Environment and Public Comment (PEPC) website by Saturday, February 18, 2006. If you do not have access to the site, we will provide a digital copy of the document at the public meeting and you can submit your comments in writing to the Superintendent by close of business Friday, January 27, 2006.
