Taking its name from the Patawomeck Tribe, the Potomac River is among the three largest rivers in the Chesapeake watershed. Standing on the shores of the Potomac and Anacostia rivers, Washington D.C. is centrally located within the heart of the Chesapeake Bay watershed. With world-class museums and national monuments and memorials, there is plenty to fill a visit to Washington D.C. Many of those experiences, and some that may be lesser known, are incredible ways to have an authentic Chesapeake experience!
