During the Federal government shutdown, Buffalo National River will remain accessible to the public, but NPS-provided services will not be available. Visitors should use caution if choosing to enter the park. In case of emergency, call 911 or park dispatch at 888-692-1162.
River accesses, trails, campgrounds and vault toilets will remain open. Flush restrooms that normally remain open during the winter, including those at Steel Creek, Tyler Bend, and Buffalo Point, will be closed. The visitor center and contact stations throughout the park will be closed, and all scheduled programs will be cancelled until government operations resume. Concessioners are continuing to operate, but anyone with reservations should contact the concessioner to confirm.
The Lost Valley project is not affected by this lapse of funding and will continue during the shutdown. Lost Valley remains closed for improvements.
