Buffalo National River, Harrison, AR – Park Staff at Buffalo National River recently completed winterizing the park’s facilities. “With cold weather approaching, water systems and restrooms have been winterized to prevent freezing and broken pipes.” said Superintendent Kevin Cheri. Water systems will resume operation in mid-March 2017, weather permitting.
Throughout the park, camping and day use areas such as river accesses remain open, but water systems have been turned off. Primitive facilities such as vault toilets are still available.
At Tyler Bend, the drive-in loop campground is open and the restrooms and showerhouses will remain open through the winter. The walk-in and group camping loops are closed. The Tyler Bend Visitor Center is open daily (except holidays) from 8:30 am - 4:30 pm. Restrooms are available at the visitor center.
At Buffalo Point, day use areas and the “B” loop of Buffalo Point Campground are open with primitive facilities (vault toilets) only. All other campground loops at Buffalo Point Campground are closed for the winter. The Buffalo Point Visitor Contact Station will be open Friday through Monday from 8:30 am – 4:30 pm. It will be closed Tuesday through Thursday.
The Steel Creek Visitor Contact Station will be open Friday through Sunday 8:30 am - 4:30 pm.
