Buffalo National River is pleased to reopen the Steel Creek Campground, including the horsecamp, beginningFridayevening,November 29th. This change was made possible with the arrival of Campground Hosts John and Shirley McGee. The single vault toilet located at the drive-in sites will be opened for public use, but with very limited service. As is usual this time of year, water is not available. Please plan on removing all trash when you leave your campsite as trash receptacles are not provided. The Campground Host program, part of the Volunteers-In-Parks (VIP) program, assists parks by placing willing volunteers in campgrounds, assisting both the visitors and the park in a variety of ways. They are often the first point of contact for car lock-outs, missing children, and "what's that tree" questions. By the same token they can report problems to our dispatch center. Buffalo National River is very grateful for all of our volunteers who make our jobs easier and your experience at the park safer and enriching. |
