Although the water levels had dropped somewhat overnight, search efforts today (Saturday) were restricted to crews in two boats looking at river banks and shallows again today. The onset of very heavy rains, thunder, and dense fog brought those two boats off the river by 2:30 pmtoday (4/29).

Visitors are, once again, urged to take caution around the river and at water crossings. As late as 3:30 om yesterday four rafters were reported putting on the river at Ponca in spite of very serious forecasts. An as recently as 1 pm today visitors were arriving at Lost Valley Trail to hike. Rangers, including law enforcement, interpreters, fee collectors, and maintenance staff are currently visiting trailheads, campgrounds and launch sites to ask visitors to reconsider their plans and be safe. Barricades have been set up at many locations, and the major campgrounds at Tyler Bend and Buffalo Point are closed.

Please report any accidents, missing persons, or unsafe conditions to park dispatch at 888/692-1162.
