Buffalo Point Annual Fishing Clinic

 Attention aspiring anglers and fishermen interested in passing on the proud tradition of fishing in the Ozark waterways, come to the Annual Fishing Clinic at Buffalo Point on Buffalo National River on June 11th, 2011. In conjunction with the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission's Free Fishing Weekend, National Park Service Staff and Volunteers will be providing instruction on all aspects of fishing, to include baiting hooks, casting, retrieval and filleting of that regulation catch, as well as activities and discussions designed to better inform the public of the issues we collectively face as stewards of our natural environment.

The clinic will be open to all children 17 years of age and younger. Park visitors and area kids are encouraged to attend.  

After the clinic, a casting contest will be held with four age groups competing to see who is closest to the target. Prizes will be awarded in each age group. Certificates of accomplishment will be issued to all the participants who complete the clinic.

Registration will be at the Amphitheater in the Buffalo Point campground from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. The clinic runs from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Practice casting from 10:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and the casting contest from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. Awards will be presented immediately after the casting contest.
